Therapy for individuals and couples

hi there
I'm Michelle Cox
I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist with 13 years of experience in the mental health field, specializing in anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges.
A Lifelong Listener
How I Found My Calling in Therapy
Since I was young, people have naturally turned to me with their struggles, seeking guidance and comfort. They would confide in me, sharing their deepest thoughts because I provided a safe space where they could speak freely, without fear of judgment. Over time, I became known as "the keeper of all secrets," trusted to hold what was shared with the utmost care and confidentiality.
This natural ability to offer support gradually blossomed into a passion, and I realized I wanted to make it my career
Now, as a therapist, I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their innermost feelings and thoughts, knowing they are truly heard, valued, and supported.
Like My Clients, I’ve Walked
My Own Journey
Growing up as the child of immigrant parents, I experienced love through sacrifice rather than words. While my parents had the best intentions, their limited emotional support led me to suppress my feelings and focus on being an emotional support for others, often at the expense of my own well-being.
In Asian culture, where praise is rare and criticism more common, I learned to tie my self-worth to my accomplishments. This mindset fueled perfectionism and a fear of failure, creating pressure to seek external validation over self-acceptance. I’ve come to understand how this dynamic shapes individuals and affects relationships, as it fosters insecurity and the need for validation to fill a deep sense of self-doubt.
Through my own therapy and healing journey, I’m grateful and blessed to be a better version of myself for my husband, kids, parents, and friends. If any of this resonates with you, I understand. Whether you need support with self-reflection, emotional healing, or improving relationships in your life, I’m here to walk with you on this journey.
Helping People Gives My Life Meaning
Being a therapist is a true honor. I am passionate about helping people become healthier, more empowered, and watching the profound transformations that unfold in their lives. There's no greater reward than guiding someone through deep, meaningful work that leads to lasting change.
True healing occurs when we dig beneath the surface, uncovering the patterns and beliefs that shape who we are. I am dedicated to creating a space where clients can explore, grow, and step into their fullest potential.
I Bring Compassion & A Non-Judgmental Presence To Sessions
I have a natural ability to
Help people identify what they are feeling
Help people feel comfortable
Uncover what's under the surface
Help clients heal their past and manage the present
People who know me often describe me as a compassionate listener who makes others feel genuinely heard and understood. The feedback I consistently receive from clients highlights my warmth and non-judgmental approach, creating a safe space for them to open up.
I’m not the type of therapist who offers quick fixes or takes a band-aid approach. Instead, we’ll work together to identify the root causes of your challenges, including addressing childhood wounds, and focus on achieving true, lasting healing.
I approach my work with a blend of kindness and directness, fostering an environment where honesty and growth thrive together. While therapy can dive into deep topics, I also believe that laughter is a powerful form of healing, so I embrace moments of lightness throughout the process.
as a therapist
I Embrace The Following Philosophies
I believe that there is no shame in asking for help.
I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated.
I believe that people underestimate their ability to change. It's possible to change. It's possible to enjoy life again.
I believe that we can stop feeling shame when we share our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding.
I believe that even if we feel like we've lost hope, it's possible to show up, commit to ourselves, and do what it takes to start feeling better.
I believe LEO spouses deserve emotional support and someone who truly understands the challenges they face, because I know firsthand that being a LEO spouse can be incredibly tough.
My Professional Background
I earned my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University. I am trained in Prepare/Enrich and Nurturing Parenting. I am also trained in EMDR, working towards certification.

On A Personal Note…
When I’m not in my therapy office, you’ll find me camping in our trailer with my husband and two young kids. As a passionate foodie, I love exploring new places to eat, so great food is always part of the adventure.
To unwind, my favorite escape is watching K-dramas—there’s nothing like getting lost in a great, wholesome story to help me relax and reset. I also treasure spending quality time with my close friends.
One day, I dream of owning my own homestead—a peaceful piece of land filled with farm animals. I can already picture it: cows, donkeys, chickens, and maybe even a mini horse.
